Ingredients
2 cans of baked beans (28 oz each)
1 cup cooked ground beef or turkey (optional for added protein)
½ cup crispy bacon crumbles
1 medium onion, diced
1 bell pepper, diced (red or green for color)
½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 tbsp brown sugar or maple syrup
1 tbsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)
1 tsp smoked paprika
½ tsp garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a skillet, sauté the diced onion and bell pepper until softened. If adding
ground beef or turkey, cook it in the skillet as well.
3. In a large mixing bowl, combine baked beans, brown sugar, mustard,
smoked paprika, garlic powder, and sautéed ingredients. Mix well.
4. Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish. Top with shredded
cheese and bacon crumbles.
5. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let cool
slightly before serving.
